Prof. Enobong Ikpeme is an Honorary Chief Consultant Paediatrician/Professor of Paediatrics, working in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
She is the Honorary Chief Consultant Paediatrician in the Paediatric Nephrology and Infectious Disease Unit of the University of Uyo
Teaching Hospital, and also a Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. She is a strong advocate
for children, and has a passion for clinical practice and imparting knowledge.
She is an alumnus of the Etinan Institute, Etinan, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria and a graduate of Medicine and Surgery [MBBS] from the
University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, where she was the best graduating student in Obstetrics & Gynaecology for the
class of 1984. She had her residency training in Paediatrics at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt,
Nigeria and is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians [Faculty of Paediatrics, FWACP]. She has been a Fellow in
Paediatrics since 1997.
After her residency training, she worked as a Locum Consultant Paediatrician with the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC)
between November 1997 and December 2002 as well as a Consultant Paediatrician at Braithwaite Memorial Hospital, Port-Harcourt,
Rivers State (1999-2004). During her stay in Port-Harcourt, she was President, Medical Women's Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Rivers
State (1997-1999).
Thereafter, she joined the services of University of Uyo as a lecturer and University of Uyo Teaching Hospital as an Honorary
Consultant and within these institutions she has served as the Head, Department of Paediatrics (2010 -2013). She has also served as
Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, between 2012 and 2016 and now the current Provost, College of Health Sciences, University of
Uyo. She is also a member of the 9th Governing Council of the University of Uyo.
Within the University of Uyo, she has served as a member of various committees which include Oath taking and Sponsio committee of
the College of Health Sciences, Committee of Deans etc. She was the Chairman, Protocol Sub-committee, for 22nd and 23rd University
of Uyo Convocation Planning Committee in 2017 and is a renowned orator of the University.
She was recently nominated to serve as a member in the Technical Action Group of TETFUND and she is a FOUNDATION FELLOW of the just
inaugurated Nigerian Academy of Medicine.
Prof Enobong Ikpeme is an active member of many professional bodies which include International Paediatric Nephrology Association
(IPNA), International Society of Nephrology (ISN) etc.
She is the
FIRST female Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, University of Uyo, Uyo.

She has also actively rendered community service at various times under the auspices of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria,
Akwa Ibom State chapter [which is an affiliate of the Medical Women’s International Association] and her local church by carrying
out health screening and giving health talks. She is also a Deaconess in her church.
Her deep research in the field of Nephrology has brought forth 55 publications and various Conference paper presentations. Majority
of her works are open access in this Knowledegebase.
She is also an entrepreneur par excellence. She is the Medical Director of Jeconiah Specialist Hospital, Uyo, a hospital she’s run
for over two decades.
She is a mother of four lovely children. In her spare time, she loves to read, watch movies and dance.
